Our history The Diginostic Journey
Pioneering preventive Digital Health Screening in Australia and beyond
Diginostic stands at the intersection of clinical innovation and public health purpose, advancing the early detection of health conditions through intelligent and accessible digital screening. Guided by a commitment to evidence-based care, we equip clinicians with the tools to identify risk with accuracy, respond with timeliness, and support meaningful intervention - particularly in areas of critical need.
From early beginnings to national leadership, our story reflects a journey of bold ideas, real-world impact, and enduring purpose.
From Vision to Impact
Diginostic’s commitment to digital screening is built on a strong foundation of innovation and measurable impact. Before the company formally began, the team was already exploring how digital tools could enable meaningful change. This work began in 2006 with PreventionXpress, an early effort to digitise health screening in Australia.
In partnership with our U.S. sister company, Educational Message Services Inc. (EMS), we co-developed one of the first digital tools to screen for postpartum depression, a significant step forward in the emerging digital health space. Launched in 2007 through the Prevention Pays program in New Jersey hospitals, the tool allowed women to complete assessments on tablets and mobile devices, improving privacy, accessibility, and clinical responsiveness. Secure data capture and instant reporting streamlined care and lifted completion rates. The program’s design and impact were formally recognised by the Northern New Jersey Maternal Child Health Consortium.
These early projects laid the groundwork for our technical capabilities and defined our purpose: to deliver screening that doesn’t just tick a box, but improves outcomes.
Low risk
Indicating a clean bill of health, backed up by some targeted health prevention information.
Moderate risk
Signalling that the patient may need to consult a doctor.
High risk
Alerting the patient to take action by contacting the appropriate local medical provider for the health issue identified.
The ‘traffic light system’ was developed in 2007 as part of the PreventionXpress Personalised Summary Report.
Real-World Impact Through PreventionXpress
With growing recognition of the gaps in early detection, the team behind PreventionXpress expanded their focus beyond perinatal mental health to address broader health challenges. This included the development and delivery of scalable digital screening programs across workplace and clinical settings.
Between 2008 and 2018, the pXs tool enabled over 7,400 health checks with Ausgrid employees, identifying risk across mental health, sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, substance use, and more. Screenings were completed in under 10 minutes, with results automatically generated in multiple languages, demonstrating both reach and efficiency.
During the same period, the SpineData platform, developed in collaboration with the Spine Centre of Denmark, captured more than 23 million data points from over 100,000 patients with chronic back pain, supporting better understanding and care in musculoskeletal health.
The WHO ASSIST screening tool was also digitised through the creation of the NightCoach app, offering a mobile solution for substance use risk assessment and self-reflection.
These initiatives demonstrated that digital screening could deliver measurable, population-level outcomes in real-world settings. It was this momentum and the clear need for integrated, intelligent health screening that led to the formation of Diginostic.

Transforming Perinatal Mental Health Through Digital Innovation
By 2013, the success of early digital health initiatives laid the foundation for Diginostic, a company established with a clear and enduring purpose: to embed intelligent, real-time screening into the fabric of Australia’s healthcare system.
One of Diginostic’s earliest and most transformative contributions has been in the field of perinatal mental health, a critical yet historically under-prioritised area in early detection and intervention. Drawing on our technical expertise, clinical insight, and commitment to equity, we developed the Diginostic platform to support scalable, evidence-based screening for women during the perinatal period.
As part of this evolution, we developed the digital Perinatal Mental Health screening tool built on the Diginostic platform. This solution digitises the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and integrates additional validated tools to assess psychosocial risk, anxiety, and family violence.
Designed for reach and inclusivity, the tool is available in 25 languages and is embedded into both antenatal and postnatal care workflows across Australia. Through real-time report generation, clinicians are equipped with immediate, actionable insights, helping ensure that women receive timely and appropriate support at a time of significant emotional and physical change.
Our experience working alongside partners and programs has shaped the Diginostic health platform into a trusted, purpose-built solution. Today, it serves as a national backbone for perinatal mental health screening, supporting thousands of clinicians to identify risk earlier and intervene more effectively.
Expanding Reach: Partnership with Purpose
Diginostic continues to expand its platform to address emerging health needs across women’s health, mental health, and substance use. Our focus remains clear: screening must be accessible, inclusive, and clinically meaningful—for everyone.
One of our proudest initiatives is our partnership with the Ngangk Yira Institute for Change at Murdoch University and our sister agency, Utility Creative. Together, we created a culturally safe screening app designed exclusively for the Diginostic platform. Featuring First Nations voiceovers and touchscreen storytelling, the app guides women through a reflective yarn process, helping them safely explore their strengths and challenges during the perinatal journey.
These collaborations reflect our deep belief in co-design, cultural safety, and community-led innovation.

Looking Ahead
What began as a drive to improve early detection has grown into a national movement for smarter, more equitable healthcare. From early innovations with PreventionXpress and EMS to delivering the Perinatal Mental Health screening across the nation, Diginostic continues to demonstrate the power of digital tools to transform lives.
As Founder David Stanley notes:
“Digital screening lets us reach people in moments that matter. Quietly uncovering risks, connecting them to care, and changing the course of their health journey.”
With a deep commitment to prevention, accessibility and impact, Diginostic is shaping the future of health.
